๐ Derik Queen, The Maryland Legend

Queen called game with a fadeaway jumper off the glass as time expired to beat Colorado State 72-71 and send the Terps to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2016.
The 6'10" Baltimore native delivered despite falling off-balance and jumping off the wrong leg.
Maryland battled from behind all game, with Colorado State's Nique Clifford cooking for 21 points. Queen, who finished with 17 points and is likely NBA-bound after the tournament, kept the Terps close with early three-pointers.
The 4-seed Terps now face top-seeded Florida on Thursday in San Francisco. After losing multiple heartbreakers this season, Maryland was finally on the right side of a miracle finish.
๐ Miller To Be Longhornโs New Coach

Texas is making a big coaching swap after ditching Rodney Terry! Sean Miller is about to jump from Xavier to the Longhorns, with the deal expected to be finalized soon.
Terry's out despite taking Texas to back-to-back NCAA tourneys after stepping in for Chris Beard in 2022. Apparently making the Elite Eight in 2023 wasn't enough when you can't get past the first weekend the next two years.
The timing's wild - Xavier just knocked Texas out of the tournament last week in that crazy comeback from 13 down! Miller brings serious experience with 487 career wins and 13 NCAA tournament appearances. He had major success at Arizona (four Pac-12 titles, three Elite Eights) before the federal basketball investigation drama forced him out.
Texas AD Chris Del Conte clearly had Miller lined up before pulling the trigger - dude has a habit of having the replacement ready before showing coaches the door.
๐ BYU Takes Down Wisconsin

The 6-seed Cougars became the first team to take down one of the Big Ten's eight tournament teams, and they did it wire-to-wire despite some sketchy officiating down the stretch.
Richie Saunders was an absolute beast with 25 points and six offensive boards, going toe-to-toe with Wisconsin's All-American John Tonje who dropped 37. The game got chippy as hell - three technicals were called and BYU's Dawson Baker even got ejected!
The Cougars dominated almost every statistical category but Wisconsin hung around thanks to a massive free throw advantage (29 attempts to BYU's 16). Coach Kevin Young, in his first season, has been saying all along these guys could play with anyone - and they're proving him right.
Even crazier? Jimmer Fredette was there watching his alma mater advance. How sweet is that?
๐ No Cinderella Story This Year

So much for Cinderella showing up to the Big Dance this year!
For the first time since the bracket expanded to 64 teams in 1985, the Sweet 16 is completely dominated by power conference teams. Not a single mid-major crashed the party - no Saint Peter's, no Loyola Chicago, nada.
The SEC absolutely went OFF, setting three records: most teams in the tournament (14), most first-round losses (6), and now most teams in the Sweet 16 (7). Wild stuff!
The Big Ten started hot with an 8-0 first round before BYU popped Wisconsin's bubble, but still sent four teams through. The new-look Big 12 matched its record with four teams advancing, while the ACC is down to just Duke - but Flagg and the Blue Devils are looking scary good.
Meanwhile, UConn's three-peat dream died in heartbreaking fashion against Florida, with coach Hurley getting emotional in the presser.
The Giants Have Their New QB

The Giants finally found a new QB, and it's Jameis Winston coming to the Big Apple on a two-year, $8 million deal!
This comes after New York struck out on the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes (who was visiting Pittsburgh) and Matthew Stafford (who stayed with the Rams). Winston gives them a veteran presence who went 2-5 as a starter with Cleveland last season after Deshaun Watson's injury.
The 31-year-old former #1 pick threw for 2,121 yards with 13 TDs and 12 INTs before getting benched late in the season. Funny enough, he actually asked Saquon Barkley at the Super Bowl where he should sign, and Saquon told him New York!
Don't think this ends the Giants' QB hunt though. With the #3 pick in the draft, they're still expected to grab their quarterback of the future. Winston's just the bridge guy who can mentor the rookie while Tommy DeVito remains the only other QB on the roster.
