The Basketball Topgolf 🏀

The success of Topgolf’s business has inspired a basketball copycat.

Meet JumpShot.

What will this look like? Fifty gaming bays equipped with moving hoops and digital screens where up to six players can channel their inner Steph Curry 🏀👨‍🍳. Each 50,000-square-foot location will feature restaurants, bars, and event spaces.

Led by former NFL player Derrick Mayes and backed by NBA veterans Kenyon Martin and Detlef Schrempf, JumpShot has plans for four locations by 2026.

Meanwhile, Topgolf is facing some challenges. Despite reporting $494 million in Q2 2024 revenue (up 5% from 2023), that revenue is mainly coming from new locations. Existing location sales are down.

$10.5M Deal To Flip 👀

We’re living in a different world. I’m sure most ex-pro are wishing they were college athletes in this day and age.

The nation's No. 1 recruit for 2025 could earn $2.625 million annually over four years if he trades his LSU commitment for Ann Arbor. That would put him in the same financial league as Colorado's Shedeur Sanders ($6.2M) and LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne.

But LSU isn't sweating just yet. After Underwood's recent visit to Baton Rouge, Tigers' insiders remain confident he'll stick to his December 4th signing plan. The Michigan native chose LSU partly for their quarterback development track record (Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels).

Underwood is still posting LSU content on Instagram, seemingly unfazed by Michigan's mega-offer.

Netflix will be hosting its first live sporting event — featuring Jake Paul (27) and Mike Tyson (58).

There’s no pay-per-view paywall. If you have a Netflix subscription, you can tune in to the action.

MVP Promotions (Jake Paul’s company) chose Netflix, aiming to surpass the NFL's record 23 million streaming viewers from last January's Chiefs-Dolphins game.

The card is stacked beyond just Paul-Tyson. Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano's rematch and WBC welterweight champ Mario Barrios vs. Abel Ramos round out the main card.

For boxing, this could be huge. The sport hasn't seen network TV numbers like Muhammad Ali's 90-million-viewer fight since 1978. While industry insiders doubt Netflix will commit to regular boxing content, Tonight’s event could revitalize the sport's mainstream appeal.

Amazon Prime + Diamond Sports 🤝

The deal will let Prime subscribers add Diamond's 16 regional sports networks as a streaming option – if they live in the right area. While pricing details are still under wraps, viewers will also be able to buy single games for $6.99 starting December 5th through both Prime Video and the FanDuel Sports Network app.

This move comes as Diamond Sports works to escape bankruptcy and reinvent itself. They've already rebranded from Bally Sports to FanDuel Sports Network and secured deals with the NBA and NHL. But MLB and the Atlanta Braves aren't fully convinced about their recovery plan, which heads to court Thursday for approval.

The Amazon deal isn't exclusive, meaning Diamond can still partner with other streaming platforms. It's a strategic play in the evolving sports media landscape.

A disruption to traditional cable TV model may be on the horizon.

Adidas Signs Kaleena Smith

The Ontario, California sophomore is already turning heads as the top recruit in the class of 2027. Averaging 34.9 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.2 steals per game, Kaleena earned MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year honors. Nearly 20 top programs, including UConn, USC, and LSU, have sent their offers.

This signing marks Candace Parker's first major move as president of Adidas women's basketball. The WNBA legend, who joined Adidas in May, sees Smith's signing as a "pivotal moment" for women's sports representation.

While Smith joins a growing roster of WNBA stars at Adidas, she's among the brand's youngest athletes ever – second only to 15-year-old soccer star Chloe Ricketts. The 5'6" point guard will rock James Harden's Adidas kicks while representing the brand at both high school and AAU games.
