🏀 JuJu Watkins Wins 2025 Naismith Women's College Player of the Year

JuJu Watkins just added another trophy to her already impressive collection!
The USC sophomore guard was named the women's 2025 Naismith National Player of the Year on Wednesday, becoming the Trojans' first winner since Lisa Leslie back in 1994.
What a season for JuJu. Watkins averaged 23.9 points (fourth nationally), 6.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists while leading USC to a dominant 31-4 record. She beat out some serious competition for the award including UConn's Paige Bueckers, Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo, and crosstown rival Lauren Betts from UCLA.
The bittersweet part? Watkins tore her ACL in the second round of the NCAA tournament against Mississippi State. USC made it to the regional final without her before falling to UConn.
Meanwhile, UCLA cleaned up on the other Naismith awards with Cori Close winning Coach of the Year and Lauren Betts taking Defensive Player of the Year. Close has led the Bruins to a ridiculous 34-2 record and their first-ever Final Four appearance.
The LA schools absolutely dominated the Big Ten in their first year in the conference, with USC going 17-1 and UCLA winning the conference tournament.
Crazy times in women's college hoops!

Nikola Jokić just rewrote the history books with an absolutely INSANE performance - 61 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in a double-overtime thriller against the Timberwolves.
The craziest part? The Nuggets still lost 140-139!
This wasn't just any triple-double - it's the highest-scoring triple-double in NBA history and the most points anyone's dropped in a game this season. Jokić joins Wilt Chamberlain as the only players ever to lose while posting 50+ points in a triple-double.
The ending was pure chaos. Russell Westbrook missed an open layup that would've sealed it for Denver, then fouled Nickeil Alexander-Walker on a three-point attempt as time expired. Alexander-Walker hit two free throws, deliberately missed the third, and Minnesota escaped with the win.

Steph Curry went absolutely nuclear against the Grizzlies with a 52-point explosion that included 12 three-pointers, leading the Warriors to a crucial 134-125 win.
The 37-year-old admitted he briefly got caught up chasing Klay Thompson's NBA record of 14 threes in a game after hitting his 11th bomb in the third quarter, before refocusing on the more important task of securing the win.
Jimmy Butler played closer with 27 points, including drawing a crucial sixth foul on Jaren Jackson Jr. in the final minutes. Draymond Green couldn't resist waving goodbye to Jackson as he fouled out.
The standings are getting spicy with just two weeks left: Nuggets at 3rd (47-29), Lakers 4th (46-29), Warriors 5th (44-31), Grizzlies 6th (44-32), and Timberwolves 7th (44-32).
Golden State now holds the tiebreaker over Memphis and is positioned to avoid the dreaded play-in tournament.
I think those rounds of golf helped Curry refill the tank.
🏀 Olivia Miles Going Into The Transfer Portal

Players often return for a final year of eligibility, but it's rare for someone to pass up being a lottery pick just to play at a different college. Miles had been openly weighing her options after Notre Dame's Sweet 16 loss to TCU, saying she loved college but felt she'd "outgrown it a little bit."
The junior guard has been a monster this season, averaging a career-high 15.4 points while dramatically improving her three-point shooting from 22.8% to 40.6%. She played all 34 games after missing the entire 2023-24 season with a knee injury, which is why she still has a year of eligibility left.
Miles, Hannah Hidalgo, and Sonia Citron formed one of the best backcourts in the country, even getting Notre Dame to #1 in the AP poll after beating UCLA. But the Irish faded late, getting bounced early in the ACC tournament and then upset by TCU in the Sweet 16.
Now the big question - where will she go?
New NFL Regular Season Rule Changes

The NFL just revamped overtime rules for 2025, bringing the postseason format to the regular season!
Both teams are now guaranteed a possession in OT, even if the first team scores a touchdown.
This is basically the Chiefs-Bills fix. Remember that 2022 playoff thriller where Mahomes led KC to a touchdown and Buffalo never touched the ball?
That can't happen anymore.
Now if the first team scores, the second team gets a shot, and then it's sudden death. Regular season overtime will stay at 10 minutes though, so games can still end in ties.
Meanwhile, the league is expanding replay assist to include penalties like hits on defenseless players, facemasks, and horse-collar tackles - but only if flags were already thrown. Coaches can challenge to overturn penalties but can't challenge to add them.
Other changes include Sony's Hawk-Eye cameras replacing chain gang measurements for first downs (saving about 40 seconds per measurement) and moving touchbacks to the 35-yard line to encourage more kick returns.
The controversial "tush push" ban was tabled for now, so Eagles fans can breathe easy!
