NIL Increased 824% In Paying Athletes In June
Opendorse released its annual NIL report and, woo boy, it’s a banger.
This June, NIL collectives paid athletes… 824% more than they did last June - perhaps the most revealing front-loading figure yet.
Also: Athletes projected to get $2.75B this year in Rev-Share + NIL.

A Breakdown of How Schools Will Pay Athletes
If you’ve been living under a rock you may have not seen that the House has approved colleges to be able to pay athletes. This gives you a decent idea of where colleges will be spending money.
Per Opendorse, the power conferences are expected to spend 65% of their $20.5M in rev-share on football (that's probably more like 70-75% in SEC), 20% on men’s basketball and 15% on everything else.
G6 schools, on average, are expected to only reach $4.3M of the $20.5M cap.

Knicks Expected to Hire Brown
After a month-long process of rumors, reports, interviews, and more, the New York Knicks have finally decided on their head coach of the future. After being denied interviews numerous times by different NBA teams, the Knicks have announced that they plan to hire 2x Coach of the Year Mike Brown. As an assistant coach, Mike Brown is a 4-time champion, spending time under legendary head coaches such as Greg Popovich and Steve Kerr. Brown most recently coached the Kings, where he was promptly fired after a rough start to the season despite his success in previous years.

Fever Top Lynx to win Commissioner’s Cup
In a surprise upset to win the WNBA Commissioner's Cup, the Indiana Fever beat the top seeded Minnesota Lynx 74-59 despite not having their star player, Caitlin Clark. Indiana's Natasha Howard led the way with 16 points and 12 boards, it was the Fever's defense that really shined to win them this game. This comes as no surprise, considering Howard was the 2019 DPOY.
