Selling Small Slice Of Team For $8.5 Billion

Looks like the 49ers are about to make some serious cash!

Owner Jed York says people have been hitting up his family "probably on a weekly basis" trying to buy a piece of the 97% they currently own. Finally, three groups with deep pockets came with the right offer.

According to reports, it's the Khosla family (buying 3.1%), the Deeter family (grabbing 2.1%), and the Griffith family (snagging 1%). All three have major venture capital backgrounds - Vinod Khosla co-founded Sun Microsystems, Byron Deeter is a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, and William Griffith is with Iconiq Capital.

The NFL is expected to rubber-stamp the whole thing at next week's owners meeting in Minneapolis. Meanwhile, the Chargers are also trying to sell an 8% stake to private investment firm Arctos at the same meeting.

Crazy to think about how these NFL franchises have exploded in value. Imagine what these teams will be worth in another decade!

Knicks Fans Dropping INSANE Money For Game 6

You wanna go to the Knicks game tonight? Hope you've got an extra mortgage payment lying around.

And that's for the nosebleeds! If you want to sit anywhere decent, the prices are absolutely bonkers - VIP courtside seats are selling for up to $17,330! This isn't just some random regular season game - this is a chance for Knicks fans to knock out their most hated rival at Madison Square Garden and advance to the conference finals.

The crazy part is this price is consistent across all the major ticket sites - SeatGeek, Ticketmaster, StubHub, all of them hovering around that $670 starting point. And Knicks fans are clearly willing to pay it!

The stakes couldn't be higher. If the Knicks don't win tonight, they'll have to go back to Boston for Game 7.

Experts Break Down Top Storylines for WNBA 2025 Season

The 2025 WNBA season kicks off tonight with three games, and there's no shortage of exciting storylines! Four experts weighed in on what to watch for this year:

  • They expect Kelsey Plum to make a massive impact with the Sparks and Jewell Loyd to shine with the Aces. While Paige Bueckers gets the hype, keep an eye on rookies like Sonia Citron (Mystics) and Aaliyah Nye (Aces).

  • Surprise teams? The panel loves the new-look Atlanta Dream with Brittney Griner and the Chicago Sky with their revamped roster featuring Courtney Vandersloot and Angel Reese.

  • The Fever are legit contenders in Caitlin Clark's second year after adding veterans DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard. Meanwhile, Phoenix enters a new era post-Diana Taurasi with a "Big 3" of Kahleah Copper, Alyssa Thomas and Satou Sabally.

  • As for the expansion Golden State Valkyries? Don't expect playoffs, but they should be competitive and fun to watch under coach Natalie Nakase.

Nuggets Force Game 7 Against Thunder

Just what this incredible Denver-OKC series deserved. The Nuggets stayed alive with a clutch 119-107 win last night, setting up Sunday's winner-take-all showdown in Oklahoma City.

What made the difference? Nikola Jokic (29 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists) finally got the help he needed. Jamal Murray fought through illness that nearly kept him out to drop 25, while Christian Braun went off for a playoff career-high 23 points and 12 boards.

The real X-factor? Julian Strawther came outta nowhere with 15 second-half points that OKC never saw coming.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander did his thing with 32 points despite early foul trouble, but Jalen Williams completely disappeared (6 points on 3-for-16 shooting). He's gotta show up Sunday if the Thunder want to advance.

Power Five Conference Finances Take Rare Dip

For the first time in a non-pandemic year since tracking began, the Power Five conferences saw their combined revenue decline slightly in 2024, totaling $3.54 billion compared to $3.55 billion in 2023.

This unusual downturn happened during the final year before massive conference realignment, with three of the five conferences reporting revenue drops. However, expect this to be temporary - the Big Ten and SEC are both projected to hit $1 billion+ in revenue this year as conference realignment reshuffles the deck.

Some key numbers from the latest tax filings:

  • Pac-12: Revenue fell $37M to $566.6M as 10 schools prepared to exit. Oregon State and Washington State each received $46.6M while departing schools got $30.15M after settlement deductions.

  • ACC: Stayed flat at $711.4M with school payouts between $43.1-46.4M (Notre Dame: $20.7M). Commissioner Jim Phillips received a massive 50% raise to nearly $4.1M.

  • Big 12: Revenue dropped $17M to $493.8M with a $37M operating deficit. Oklahoma and Texas received full shares in their final year while new members (BYU, Houston, UCF, Cincinnati) got about $20M each.
