Edwards Battles Through Ankle Scare As Wolves Take Game 2

Man, that must’ve been terrifying for Wolves fans!

Anthony Edwards gave Minnesota the biggest scare of the season when he reinjured his already-compromised left ankle after Warriors big man Trayce Jackson-Davis accidentally stepped on it in the second quarter.

But in true Ant-Man fashion, the 23-year-old superhero returned and actually played BETTER after the injury, dropping 13 of his 20 points after halftime while adding 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals in the Wolves' dominant 117-93 win over Golden State.

With the series now tied 1-1 heading to San Francisco and Steph Curry sidelined indefinitely with a hamstring strain, Edwards and the Wolves have a golden opportunity to take control.

Mystery Illness Keeps Plaguing Porzingis

The Celtics' high-powered offense has completely stalled against the Knicks after losing another game at home in the final minutes.

Kristaps Porziņģis - who should be the perfect counter to New York's switching defense - has been virtually non-existent, averaging just 4 points and 4 rebounds in 13.5 minutes through two shocking home losses.

The 7-foot-3 Latvian isn't injured - he's sick. Really sick. He's been battling what he described as an unidentified "viral illness" that first sidelined him for eight games after the All-Star break.

This continues a frustrating season for KP, who already missed a month recovering from ankle surgery and appeared in just 42 regular season games. While Boston managed fine without him during the season (actually posting a better winning percentage when he sat), their offense has cratered against New York, scoring just 99.5 points per 100 possessions.

With Game 3 at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, the Celtics desperately need their big man to find some energy. His ability to punish switches in the post and stretch the floor with his shooting could be the key to unlocking their stagnant offense and avoiding a 3-0 hole.

Sue Bird Becomes USA Basketball's First Women's Managing Director

WNBA legend Sue Bird is jumping straight from retirement into the fire!

The five-time Olympic gold medalist has been named the first-ever managing director of USA Basketball's Women's National Team, giving her responsibility for selecting coaches and players for all major international competitions.

Make no mistake - this gig comes with serious pressure. Bird herself calls it a "no win job" since USA Basketball has been absolutely DOMINANT, winning 10 Olympic golds and 11 world titles without losing a game in either tournament since 2006. But the margins are getting thinner - Team USA barely scraped by France 67-66 in last year's Olympic final.

The 44-year-old basketball icon brings an absurd resume to the role - five Olympic golds, four World Cup titles, and a ridiculous 162-9 record with various USA Basketball teams. While she's never held a GM-type position before, Bird believes her point guard mentality will translate well.

Texans' Jayden Higgins Makes NFL History

Jayden Higgins just made NFL history!

The Houston Texans rookie wide receiver has agreed to a fully guaranteed four-year, $11.7 million contract with the team, making him the first second-round pick in NFL history to receive a fully guaranteed deal.

The Texans snagged Higgins with the 34th overall pick, just outside the first round, after his monster final season at Iowa State where he put up 87 catches, 1,183 yards, and 9 touchdowns. Those numbers earned him second-team All-Big 12 honors after transferring from Eastern Kentucky, where he spent his first two collegiate seasons.

This is a massive win for second-round picks moving forward, potentially setting a new precedent for draft pick contracts. Houston is clearly high on Higgins, giving him the kind of financial security typically reserved for first-rounders.

Interestingly, the Texans are building quite the Iowa State connection in their receiver room - they also drafted Jaylin Noel in the third round this year, joining 2023 pick Xavier Hutchinson to make it three Cyclones wideouts on the roster.

Pacquiao Coming Out of Retirement at 46

The Pac-Man is back!

The Filipino legend is ending his nearly four-year retirement to challenge Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight championship on July 19th. At 46 years old, Pacquiao is returning to the sport that made him the first and only eight-division world champion in boxing history.

Pacman hasn't fought since August 2021 when he lost to Yordenis Ugás, but rumors of his comeback have been swirling for months with Barrios frequently mentioned as the opponent. The timing is interesting - the fight won't be officially announced until after Pacquiao's current campaign for a Philippine Senate seat concludes (election's on May 12). He previously served as a senator from 2016-2022.

Barrios, 17 years younger at 29, is a legit champion who won the WBC interim welterweight title last May by beating Fabian Maidana before being elevated to full champ after Terence Crawford moved up in weight. He's coming off a bloody war with Abel Ramos that ended in a draw last November on the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson undercard.

Can the aging icon recapture his magic for one more title run? Or is this a dangerous money grab against a prime champion with serious power?
