Two More Redeem Team Members Get Inducted To Hall Of Fame

They were just announced as part of the Class of 2025, but they're getting double-dipped since they'll also be inducted as members of the iconic 2008 "Redeem Team" that brought Olympic gold back to USA Basketball.

That team is stacked with legends - LeBron and CP3 are heading to the Hall before they even retire, plus you've got Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant, Chris Bosh, and Jason Kidd who are already enshrined individually.

The Redeem Team went a perfect 8-0 in Beijing, winning by nearly 28 points per game and starting USA's current five-gold medal Olympic streak.

UConn Women Get Another One

Paige Bueckers went out in style!

UConn dominated South Carolina 82-59 to win the national championship on Sunday, giving the program its record-breaking 12th title and first since 2016.

The Huskies' talented trio was unstoppable all tournament long. While Bueckers has been the headline act, Azzi Fudd stole the show in the final with 24 points to earn Most Outstanding Player honors. Freshman phenom Sarah Strong added 24 points and 15 rebounds, setting an NCAA tournament record for points by a freshman.

South Carolina started hot but completely fell apart, going scoreless for the final 3:59 of the first quarter. UConn led by 10 at halftime before blowing the game open with a 12-3 run to end the third quarter. The Gamecocks never recovered, with only Joyce Edwards and Tessa Johnson reaching double figures with 10 points each.

This championship run was absurdly dominant - UConn won every tournament game by double digits and took down three #1 seeds, including a 34-point beatdown of UCLA in the Final Four.

Now Bueckers heads to the WNBA draft on April 14, where she's expected to be the top pick after capping her college career with the championship that eluded her in 2022.

Gretzsky’s Record Finally Broken

The historic moment came in perfect Ovi fashion - a power play laser from his office in the left circle that beat fellow Russian Ilya Sorokin. Ovechkin immediately belly-flopped onto the ice while his teammates poured off the bench to mob him as "Ovi! Ovi!" chants erupted throughout the arena.

In the celebration ceremony that followed, Gretzky himself was there to pass the torch and shake Ovi’s hand. The milestone came in Ovechkin's 1,487th game - eerily, the exact same number Gretzky played in his career.

What makes this even more incredible is that Ovi missed 16 games this season with a broken leg, yet still has 42 goals at age 39. The Russian superstar has now scored 40+ goals an astounding 14 times, breaking yet another Gretzky record.

Though the Caps lost 4-1, nobody seemed to care.

💰This Case Could Change NIL Forever

A landmark $2.8 billion settlement that could transform college athletics appeared in court Monday, with several high-profile athletes speaking out against it.

U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken, who previously granted preliminary approval, heard objections but won't make her final ruling until later this month.

LSU gymnast and social media star Olivia Dunne testified against the settlement, arguing it severely undervalues her actual NIL worth.

If approved, the settlement would start July 1 and allow schools to share up to $20.5 million each with athletes. It would replace scholarship limits with roster limits (capping football teams at 105 players vs. the current 128 average) and establish a clearinghouse to ensure NIL deals are at fair market value.

The settlement also includes $2.5 billion in back damages to athletes who played between 2016-2024 when NIL benefits weren't fully available. NCAA President Charlie Baker called it "a huge step forward for college sports," though many smaller schools fear being left behind by donor-heavy programs.

Universities nationwide are preparing for implementation while Judge Wilken considers the arguments from both sides.
